Our singing is merely a fun little hobby, as was the recording and design of this cd - which we put together ourselves. Although we've sang together in the past, it wasn't until fall of 2011 that we discovered this style of music as our own and put together a bluegrass gospel music set. Friends and family that showed interest in our music continue to encourage us on to discovering more songs and more music.

released May 30, 2014

Big thanks go out to our family for being so encouraging, and for teaching us so much in our lives. Our parents and siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and niece. Thanks also to everyone in the band Jacob's Journey as we'll always know it, no matter who comes and goes - Bill, Loren, Larry, Ken, and Judy. And thanks to all our other friends who have helped us along musically in many ways - teaching and giving us tips on singing and instruments, asking us to perform places, cheering us on at gigs, and recommending songs. But of course thanks mostly to God. Every song on this cd is about Him, so without Him to sing to every track on this cd would be missing.

The Tanis Sisters Michigan

As sisters, we've known eachother since, well, forever. We've always enjoyed messing around musically, and in 2011 Bethany picked up the mandolin and we played our first bluegrass-gospel-y gig.

Track Name: Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
As Briscoe Darling (from the Andy Griffith Show) would say, "If you've got time to breathe, you've got time for music!" Here's the chords so you can play along too:

(G)What a fellowship (C)what a joy divine
(G)Leaning on the everlasting (D7)arms
(G)What a blessedness {C}what a peace is mine
(G)Leaning on the ever{D7}lasting (G)arms

(G)Leaning (C)leaning (G)safe and secure from all a(D7)larms
(G)Leaning (C)lean-ing (G)leaning on the ever(D7)lasting (G)arms

Oh how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way
Leaning on the everlasting arms
Oh how bright the path grows from day to day
Leaning on the everlasting arms

What have I to dread what have I to fear
Leaning on the everlasting arms
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near
Leaning on the everlasting arms

Track Name: No Not One
Want to play along? This is lyrics and a chord chart in one. Enjoy!

(A)There's not a friend like the (D)lowly (A)Jesus
No, not (E)one! No, not (A)one!
None else could heal all our (D)souls di(A)seases
No, not (E)one! No, not (A)one!

(A)Jesus knows all about our struggles
He will guide till the day is (E)done
(A)There's not a friend like the (D)lowly (A)Jesus
No, not (E)one! No, not (A)one!

No friend like Him is so high and holy
No, not one! No, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly
No, not one! No, not one!

There's not an hour that He is not near us
No, not one! No, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us
No, not one! No, not one!
Track Name: I Saw The Light
Oh look! I included chords so you can play along! How fun....

I (C)wandered so aimless life filled with sin
(F)I wouldn't let my dear Savior (C)in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord (G7)I saw the (C)light

(C)I saw the light I saw the light
(F)No more darkness no more (C)night
Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord (G7)I saw the (C)light

Just like a blind man I wandered along
Worries and fears I claimed for my own
Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light

I was a fool to wander and stray
Straight is the gate and narrow the way
Now I have traded the wrong for the right
Praise the Lord I saw the light

Track Name: God Wants To Hear You Sing
Enjoy playing along with the chords to this song!

Their (C)chains were fastened (G)tight, (F)down at the jail that (C)night
Still (F)Paul and Silas (G)would not be dis(C)mayed (G)
They said, “It’s (C)time to lift our (G)voice, (F)sing praises to the (C)Lord
Let’s (F)prove that we will (G)trust Him come what (C)may” (G)

God (C)wants to hear you (G)sing
When the (F)waves are crashing (C)’round you
When the (F)fiery darts su(C)rround you
When (F)despair is all you (G)see
God (C)wants to hear your (G)voice
When the (F)wisest man has (C)spoken
And says, “Your (F)circumstance is as (C)hopeless as can (G)be”
That’s when (F)God wants to (G)hear you (C)sing ((Am))

He loves to hear our praise on our cheerful days
When the pleasant times out weigh the bad, by far
But when suffering comes along, and we still sing Him songs
That is when we bless the Father’s heart.

Track Name: 'Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus
Strum along, pick along, plunk along, tap along....whatever your instrument requires: I included the chords to play for you!

(G)'Tis so sweet to (C)trust in (G)Jesus, and to take him (Am)at (G)his (D)word;
(G)just to rest (C)upon his (G)promise, and to (Am)know, "Thus (G)saith (D)the (G)Lord."

(G)Jesus, Jesus, (Am)how I (D)trust him!
(G)How I've proved him {Am}o'er and (D)o'er!
(G)Jesus, Jesus, (C)precious (G)Jesus!
O for (Am)grace to (D)trust him (G)more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus, just to trust his cleansing blood;
and in simple faith to plunge me neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus, just from sin and self to cease;
just from Jesus simply taking life and rest, and joy and peace.

I'm so glad I learned to trust thee, precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
and I know that thou art with me, wilt be with me to the end.

Track Name: When You Pray
Go ahead and play along! I included the chords for you below:

At the (D7)close of the day, when you (G)kneel to pray
Will (D7)you remember (G)me?
I need (D7)help every day, this is (G)why I pray
Will (D7)you remember (G)me?

(C)When you pray, (Cm)will you (G)pray for me
For I (D7)need His love and His (G)care
(C)When you pray, (Cm)will you (G)pray for me
Will you (D7)whisper my name in your (G)prayer

At the close of the day, when I kneel to pray
I will remember you
You need help every day, this is why I pray
And I will remember you

When I pray, I will pray for you
For you need His love and His care
When I pray, I will pray for you
I will whisper your name in my prayer
Track Name: Are You Washed In The Blood
Wanna play? Let's do a little pickin' and a grinnin'! Why don't you join us? I included the chords below.

Have you (G)been to Jesus for the (C)cleansing (G)power?
Are you washed in the blood of the (D)Lamb?
Are you (G)fully trusting in His (C)grace this hour?
Are you (G)washed in the (D)blood of the (G)Lamb?

Are you (G)washed in the (C)blood,
In the (G)soul cleansing blood of the (D)Lamb?
Are your (G)garments spotless? Are they (C)white as snow?
Are you (G)washed in the (D)blood of the (G)Lamb?

Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

Track Name: There Is A Time
This song is in a minor key. Super fun! Lucky for you I'm sharing the chords along with the lyrics....

There is a (Am)time for love and laughter,
The days will (C)pass like summer (Am)storms;
The winter (C)winds will follow (Am)after,
But there is (Dm)love (Em)and love is (Am)warm.

There is a (Am)time for us to wander,
When time is (C)young and so are (Am)we;
The woods are (C)greener over (Am)yonder;
The path is (Dm)new (Em)and the world is (Am)free.

There is a time when leaves are fallin',
The woods are gray, the paths are old;
The snow will come when geese are calling',
You need a fire against the cold.

So do your roamin' in the springtime,
You'll find your love and a summer sun;
The frost will come and bring a harvest,
And you can rest when the day is done.
